This page contains information about projects that the Heaton Schools are undertaking together to improve outcomes for the children and the community that they serve. Community News:
Singing
Each year the seven primary schools send a choir to the City Hall and perform individually and together in a joint singing extravaganza. Further opportunities exist throughout the year for children to sing in the Ouseburn Young Voices choir led by Miles Wallis-Clark, Head teacher, Hotspur Primary.
This year's concert is on Thursday 26th March.
Working with Parents
All the schools are working together to improve the information and support that they give parents. An information evening has been organised at Heaton Manor for parents from all the primary schools. Charles de Forge, will speak and there will be information and support from other agencies. This is a free event which will take place on March 10th.
All the schools are working towards the Leading Parent Partnership Award and will be the first schools in Newcastle to achieve it.
Shakespeare in Schools Project
A joint project between the 7 primaries allowing Y6 pupils the opportunity to work together to perform a Shakespeare play.
Building Bridges Project
This is the transition project between Y6 and Y7, allowing parents and children the opportunity to visit Heaton Manor and ensure that children make the transition from primary to secondary education seamlessly. Good links exist between teachers in all the schools ensuring that your child.s needs can be effectively met.
The Creative Curriculum project
All the schools are working together to implement an exciting and relevant curriculum which gives seamless transition from primary to secondary.
Magpie Memories
An exciting new project for Y4-Y6 pupils involving collecting memories of Newcastle United, football coaching and writing poetry!
